A Little Slow right now....

GOAT faithful,

Not a lot going on right now, as far as games go. Got a break down on the Oregon/BSU game coming, but just not alot to talk about right now....But then there's those MEEEECHIGAN Wolverines that can't seem to stay out of the headlines here lately.

Now, I am going to back RAMROD here, because I think he is caught in a tight spot and is getting the raw end of the deal. If you want to tell me that these large programs and even smaller ones don't bend, twist, turn and out and out break rules when it comes to working out and practices, then you need to start following "Soccer" blogs. Every team does it, but MEEECHIGAN makes the news about it. Da GOAT firmly feels "The Vest" is responsible for this coming out in the news. Dirty bast*rd Tressel, is scared of the the mighty UM making a come back to the top of the Big 10/11. Ok, well probably not, but there comes a time when you need to leave a guy alone and let him do his thing. I busted on him for his 3 QB system, but I will still give him the benefit of the doubt, because he coaches UM not me. If he's as good as they think he is, then he will get them turned around, and if you watched the ESPN interview with that guy, it's hard not to become an instant RICHROD fan. Pure, raw emotion, and just a driving love for his kids and a program that so desperately needs someone with RICHROD's fire and enthusiasm. He was truly hurt by the accusations and probably didn't do anything wrong, or that any other programs either has done or is doing right this very minute. I am now a RICHROD fan, and hope he brings UM back to relevance in the coming years.

Enjoy,

Breakdowns will becoming in the next few days with the "PICKS" out by Thursday so we can BLOW UP the sportsbook spots!

Betting Lingo

Da GOAT has been requested to help out for fellow brethern to understand some of the acronyms and word/phrases that i use when refering to sports gaming. Here's what we got in no particular order:

Action - A sports betting wager of any kind, a bet. .

ATS - "Against the spread," taking points rather than betting with the spread and laying points in sports betting. (ATS) Ex. Rice is 7-6 ATS, meaning they COVERED 7 out 13 ATS

Chalk - The favorite.

Chalk Player - In sports gambling this person is someone who usually only plays the favored teams, rarely betting on the underdogs.

Da GOAT'S "Early Leans" with analysis

Good evening all, hope all is well. First and foremost I want to give a "shout out" and my "warmest congratulations" to Aplington-Parkersburg High School Football Fighting Falcons. In their first game since the Tragic Death of Head football Coach Ed Thomas, The falcons dismantled rival Dike-New Hartford 30-14. It was a great statement game for a team and town that is continuing to cope with the death of a legendary coach and a devastating tornado that both ripped the little town apart. This team had to mature very quickly and will be carrying the weight of a town on their respective shoulders this year. As the town rallies around this team this year, Da' Goat wishes them the very best this year and for many to come. They have and will do this small town and this great nation very proud this year regardless of their record.

Secondly, Da GOAT had the distinguished opportunity to check out Michael Vick's return to the NFL last night from the Lower Level 50 yard line at Lincoln Financial Field. Vick did good for his first game back going 4-4 on just 6 plays, but it was more then just the stats last night. It was the acceptance of an entire city of a man who just 18 short months ago sat in a 6x10 with 3 squares because he had brain malfunction or a serious lack of judgement, take your pick. To hear the entire stadium chant "Put Vick in" and giving him a standing ovation every time he went in was just fantastic. Now, I don't condone Vick's actions by any means, but I do believe in second chances. Philly has given him a second shot at getting his life back and I hope that he takes full advantage of it. God speed Mr. Vick, and I hope you get to start in Philly this year and blow it up, because I picked you up on my fantasy team, so don't disappoint.

Now, on to what the masses have been waiting on...

Like:

Kentucky -14.5
UTEP -7.5
Bowling Green +7
South Carolina +4.5(H)

Love:

Iowa St. -13.5
Wake Forest -1(H)
Central Michigan +14.5(H)

One Night Stand:

*TEASE*
Nevada +21
Illinois PK
Oregon +12
Bama PK

Want to marry:

USC ML
OSU ML
PENN ST. ML
CLEMSON ML
NEBRASKA ML
OKLAHOMA ML
TEXAS ML

(Little or no value, but a win is a win)

Line to watch:

Minnesota -6.5 (This one is interesting and may be worth firing on)

Now, normally Da GOAT is firing away the first week of the season and my record opening weekend speaks for itself, but this year is a little different. I don't see "That Game" or a true "Vegas Whiff" that is worth firing on right now. Listed above are my "LEANS" and none of those games are "Locked In". I don't think a free for all picking 100 games is worth it, and I am going to try to focus on just a few a week that look to have great value. I will be breaking down a couple of these games later on starting with the SC/NCSU game tonight, and the rest in the following days.

NCSU/USC
LINE: NCSU -4

LEAN: SOUTH CAROLINA +4.5 (BTH)
Location: Carter Finley Stadium
Seating: 65,000
"Talent" Meter (1-10): 6.5
Game Date: 9/3/09
Game Time: 7:30
Network: ESPN

This is an interesting match-up to open up the season for both of these schools again this year. We all know what happened last year, when Chris Smelley, the QB for the Cocks threw 137 interceptions and the Cocks still blanked NCSU 34-0. Alot of people are talking about the NCSU "resurgence" this year with "All World" QB Russell Wilson leading the charge. Tony Baker is back after replacing both knee's, and a good WR corp. to chuck the tater around too. The defense is experienced and should progress as the season does this year, HOWEVER.....

They are still squaring off against an SEC team. The beating last year was not a "fluke" as most think it was, and I kinda see this game like the "BAMA/CLEMSON" game last year, hell, even the line is the same! And there are some GLARING stats that just stick out like a sore thumb to me...

Steve Spurrier since taking the reins at UF, is 21-0 in openers?!?! The guy has not lost an opener since Duke, and I can't verify that he even lost then! As it stands the guy DOES NOT LOSE his opener. Some might say, well they open with patsies, and some of them were, but a lot of them were conference games both home and away to open. The "Ole Ball Coach" is "DA GOAT" to start the season, but since he's been at USC, the wheels tend to come off soon after they win the opener. Further, as much as everyone thinks that USC was that bad last year, a little closer look at their schedule might surprise you.

All five of their losses were to Ranked Bowl teams including Vandy, Georgia, LSU, and Florida. Now outside of UF, they lost each game by 7 or less. If Garcia has matured even the slightest bit over the spring and the COCKS don't get in trouble early, then they can easily cover this number, if not win the game outright.

Ok, enough for this evening....if you agree of disagree, leave a comment and we'll swap ignorance over it!

Da GOAT'S "Sleeper Picks"

Welcome All….In true GOAT fashion, it’s time to look at some of the teams that I feel are “Sleeper” picks if you will. I know, some of you will think to yourself, “I already said that”, but you didn’t, so I am. Here we go….

SEC

Arkansas

This year may be the year that the Razorback faithful have their reason for hiring the “One and Done” Offensive mad scientist known as Bobby Petrino. Ryan Mallet is eligible this year and has a ton of talent and an absolute cannon on his shoulder. He is surrounded by talent at RB, with returning Michael Smith and Dennis Johnson back. A host of WR’s including Burner D.J. Williams leading the way, are all set to make big plays. The Defense is going to be very solid with a slew of returning starters. Of course, Da GOAT doesn’t think that Arkansas will win 9-10 games, but ATS, they will be a GREAT BET! Having to go ON THE ROAD to face Texas A&M, Alabama, Florida, Ole Miss, and LSU and having Auburn, USC and Georgia coming to Fayetteville, AR makes this schedule easily the toughest in the country. So, I do think Arkansas is a nice “Sleeper” pick but not to win the conference or even 10 games, but they will surprise some folks this year, and don’t be surprised if you don’t see them on the Da GOAT’s card early and often as they should be DOGS a lot at home.

Big 12

I would take Oklahoma St. here, but they are getting noticed, so Da GOAT chooses:

ROCK, CHAULK JAYHAWKS! Kansas

Todd Reesing is back to run an offense that might be as good if not better then the Jayhawks team that recently won the Orange Bowl. Both RB’s and a great WR corp. should allow Reesing to put up gaudy stats again this year. Same problem as with all the Big 12 team, no defense, but in the BIG 12 conference it’s all about who has the ball last anyway. (Texas fans should note this). Of course, Kansas has a glaring 0-9 against Texas, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech, and 7-3 against Mizzou and KSU. I look for the Jayhawks to probably win 8-9 ball games this year with the best game on the schedule being a date Nov. 14th with the Nebraska Corn Huskers where they look to score 100 a piece. Watch the Jayhawks this year as they may not have A LOT of value ATS, but the O/U numbers ought to be the TICKET this year.

ACC
Everyone is harping that “NCSU” is the sleeper pick in the ACC….NOT Da GOAT…Not this time!

Georgia Tech (With honorable mention going to UNC and Wake Forest)

Paul Johnson’s offense was a hit last year in the ACC and overall the Jackets went 9-4 overall last year. 9 offensive starters return this year with “Kid Dynamite” Josh Nesbitt and Jonathan Dwyer back in the mix and leading the way. GT was hitting off at a 273 yrd. Clip last year on the ground and it looks even more promising this year. Watch out ACC, this team is for real. Opposing teams are going to have to light up the scoreboard this year to keep up with Tech, but their stout defense will have something to say about that, because they are a talented bunch. GT has to go to UM, FSU, and Vandy, with Clemson, UNC, VT and Georgia coming to ATL. This team will be a team to watch out for because of they get on a roll, they will silently be in the Top 10 very quickly and should be a good bet ATS.

Big East

West Virginia

I actually like Cincy in this spot, but WV has caught my eye. They have a pitiful schedule and with some “Devine” intervention, they may slip up and win the Big East crown this year. Pat White leaving, on paper, creates a large void in the offense, or so it would appear. However, remember the name Jarrett Brown, because you will be hearing it often. He is a great, smooth QB that should fit right in to the WV scheme and coupled with Noel Devine, they should be a good tandem that will anchor this offense. Leading receiver Alric Arnett is back and looks to make a lot of plays for Brown which should open up some lanes for Devine if the defenses commit to stopping the pass. The offensive line is a new fresh bunch, but if they can block or hold somebody for long enough, Devine will take it the distance every time. Back to Back games with East Carolina at home and then going to Auburn, we will find out early if the Da GOAT has this team figured out.

Mountain West

TCU

After Utah smacked around Alabama last year in the Sugar Bowl, this conference started to get noticed. Da GOAT has always kept his collective eye on this conference because of Air Force, and BYU. They are great ATS. But this year, the state of Texas might have 2 teams in the BCS this year, provided ND shits the bed and they don’t get the at large bid. TCU is my pick coming out of the “Monster West”. With no Oklahoma on the schedule, and getting Utah at home, they might not have that tough of a course going undefeated this year. Gary Patterson is a genius and with only 8 return starters on this squad, Patterson will have to dig deep into his “Gray Matter” to figure out how to go undefeated with a group of untested young guns like they have. Andy Dalton is back however, and he was very efficient last year in running the offense, but will need to step his game up this year and be a leader, or this team will burn in flames.

Big 10

Who Cares…… Penn St. and Ohio State and then the rest of the worst from this conference.
However Illinois is the pick to be “third best” in this conference. That’s all the time I have for this conference until they prove they can win in big games, they are not worth my time.

Pac-10

Da fighting Beava’s of Oregon St.

Big problems on the defense really scares Da GOAT and does not make this pick appear to be a good one, but if they can “score more points than the other team” then OSU is they way to go. Everyone is talking about CAL, USC and Oregon, but OSU is flying under the radar at the moment. A lot of that is because of the defense of OSU losing the entire secondary and D-line. If they can find some talent to fill the gaps and knock down some passes, then they might be able to rely on their offense to beat people. I believe Morevao will be ready by the season opener, and both Rodgers are back to carry the tater this year. The road schedule is brutal, having to go to USC, CAL, ‘Zona St and Oregon, so if they plan on making it a good year they better smack people around in Reser Stadium this year.

That’s all I have folk, you may or not agree…so voice your opinion/comment and let’s discuss it.

Breaking News.....Tebow held out of practice!

Mr. Meyer held “Everyone’s favorite virgin” out of contact drills this past week. It was reported that college football’s “Only Begotten Son” had a sore back. Now, for some odd and unknown reason Da GOAT doesn’t believe this for a second. I mean let’s all check this guys stats out: He hasn't missed a game in his entire career, but he has played hurt. Atleast by normal human species standards, for those of us who do not take HGH on a regular basis, anyway. . In high school it was reported that he has also played with a collapsed a lung, torn his aorta, and a protruding jugular…. He received painkilling injections before the final six games in 2007 and played against Florida State and Michigan with a broken bone in his non-throwing hand…… He played three games last year with a hyper-extended knee and a fake left eye (and that was only because the build in night vision/laser/flamethrower in his eye was malfunctioning and required re-programming)…..and he also had surgery on his right shoulder in January to remove a bone spur and reduce chronic inflammation from years of shot putting puppies off of roof tops during Cuban mission trips (Check photo on right side of web page for verification).

Mr. Meyer has since stated that “Robo-Tim” is 100%....but we all knew that the entire time. “Robo-Tim” has always been 100%.......100% Man, 100% Virgin, 100% Money, 100% Made of Steel, 100% winning percentage in “Stratego, Chutes and Ladders, and Pong”, 100% Not human, 100% better than the current economy, 100% in his “post game speech promises”, 100% Gatorade, 100% Bacteria Free, 100% Swam-Wow, 100% Chance of rain, and 110% ALL THE TIME…

I want to be just like “Tim TeBro” 100% of the time…Don’t worry all GAYTOR backers, This Android is not hurt and should be ready to go Week 1 vs. College of Charleston/Hair Care and Tire Repair Center, Da GOAT is all over this story, and it is 100% inaccurate...atleast the "Sore Back" part anyway.....

Reporting the news,

How do some coaches make it to the College level?

I have been pondering this topic for a while now and can't seem to figure it out. Now, I know that I might have to "eat my hat" after this entry but I'm gonna say it regardless of the end result because that's how Da GOAT rolls....

How do some coaches make it to the college level, I mean really? Some of them are just plain gutter balls. The most recent being RICHROD at MEEECHIGAN. Now, I know this guy did wonderful at WV, but something got to give! I have heard of a 2 QB system, which outside of Gainsville, FL has NEVER WORKED to perfection. This f**kin guy is starting a 3, count'um, 3 QB system! Talk about a guy with farking PROBLEMS at a program! This guy and his program is an absolute mess! If I were part of the MEECHIGAN faithful(and if I were I would off myself) I would denounce all of Ann Arbor, move to Columbus, OH and buy a damn red vest! This guy needs to call up Steve Spurrier and ask him about the 2 Qb system. His "all world" 2 QB system lead the country last year....in INTERCEPTIONS! Maybe, Da GOAT is just being to hard on RAMROD, partly because he seems to have the IQ of a LUMPY MATTRESS, and partly because he's a moron. I hope it works out for him, but it won't and he will be on the hot seat faster then me on a Gov'ment grilled cheese samich!

Next, on to Lane Kiffon...Holy Shitballs Chuck Norris where do I start! This guy just makes me laugh, I mean, duh duh damn, Genia! This guy needs to be in politics. If this guy isn't a snake in the grass, then Lou Holtz DOESN'T spit when he talks! Holy cow, just look at his grand entrance into the college season,he's a coach for 37 seconds and calls out Urban Meyer?!?! Does this guy not get it? Does he not want to coach at UT very long? (Well, hell I wouldn't either, but that's not the point!) Does he not realize that they have to play UF this year? In the swamp for gosh sakes! I don't care if they set the line at -100, I'm gonna pound the GAYTORS! Mr. Urban Meyer is not gonna take his foot off the gas, and I won't blame him! Mr. Urban Meyer(I don't want him to send his troops to "Merck" me in my sleep, so I call him Mr.) doesn't need your recruits "Lane", he has his own, and they have won 2 of 3 NC games, you idiot. But no, no no no....you have to call him out at your Booster dinner, and accuse him of cheating....what are you, phycho? Did you eat paint chips and lead pencils as a kid? This should have been a sign to the boosters that your failure is imminent, and that they need to bring back Phil.........Golly Bill?!?!? Tennessee is screwed and Da GOAT loves it!

Steve "I've successfully ruined a program" Kragthorpe is next up on the Da GOAT's chopping block. This genius, who is NOT smarter then a 5th grader, who has in three yrs. time absolutely decimated a prominent program. If I were "Papa John" I would take my dang name off that stadium in Louisville..... however both Papa John's and Krapthorpe suck now and are way over priced, so I kinda get it. I mean, back in the day, I would dominate all comers in NCAA football on the PS2 using Louisville. They won the the dad'gum Orange Bowl before this "Boat paddle" came along to take the reins! Holy f**king Christmas!?!? They are lucky to get out there own way, only to get their patsy asses handed to them by whomever they have on their schedule with a heart beat! Strong work Stevie, you are the definition of a "one hit wonder"...one good year at Tulsa, only to shit the bed for 3 straight years in Louisville! YOU DA MAN, and I appreciate you taking one of the best ATS teams of the decade and making them no better then a sack of 5 day old hot wet bag of garbage...you're pathetic

That's enough for this evening...because Charlie Weiss is not worth my time.

Pre-Season rankings #6-#10 Breakdown

Greetings from Da GOAT!

Tonight we will be taking a look at the rest of the "Top 10" in the pre-season CFB polls.

6. "THE" State/SEC owned University of Higher Learning in Columbus, Ohio

The Good: Terrell Pryor, Terrell Pryor's 40 time, The Red Vest, Home field advantage

The Bad: Terrell Pryor's 40 time vs. SEC Defense, Penn St. on the road

Expectations are high again in Columbus, and why shouldn't they be? Different day, same story up there, a high pre-season ranking, a soft schedule outside of two impending losses to USC and Penn St, and inevitably an unearned NC game birth where they get worked by an SEC school. Terrell Pryor is a "Freak of Nature" who has talent to spare, which is good, because his supporting cast may need it if they run up against REAL competition. All in all, this year should be good for the Buckeye's, and with a +900 to win the BCS, they may actually have value.
Prediction: 10-2 (Loses to USC and Penn St. are on the horizon)

7. Virginia Tech

The Good: Tyrod Taylor, The "Lunch Box" defense

The Bad: A broken Darren Evans, an opening game vs. Alabama

Everything was looking super in Blacksburg, until Darren Evans went down with a bad ricket. The weight now rests squarely on the shoulders of QB Tyrod Taylor to lead the Hokies to perfection. He does still have LOTS-O-TALENT around him with a solid receiving corp. If VT can find a rushing attack, Taylor will be able to open up the offense and be more of a "Michael Vick" style threat, if not then he will be force to make plays from the pocket, which does not fit his profile. The good news is Bud Foster has a very talented defense who quietly ranked 7th in the country last year in total defense. They will be forced to make plays and create turnovers, which is commonly referred to as "Beamer Ball". VT is known for this style and have had alot of success, in tight close ball games. VT has a strong non-conference schedule with BAMA, NEBRASKA, and @ East Carolina on a Thursday Night...AAARRRGGHHH! Not to mention a night trip to Carter Finley to play the Wolfpack of NCSU. Good Luck Hokies, Your stay in the Top 10, may be kinda short...
Prediction: 9-3 (And that maybe generous)

8. Penn State

The Good: Darryl Clark, WHITE OUT NIGHT GAMES, a decent defense, arsenal of weapons on offense to include Evan Royster

The Bad: Holes in the O-Line

With a schedule that looks like they stole it from the basketball team, Penn St. should have a dump-truck load full of wins. The only games they REALLY GOT to show up for is a road trip to Champayne, IL and the Big 10 championship games vs. OSU on Nov. 7th. I think that if Daryl Clark and Evan Royster stay healthy and Stephfon Green preforms up to expectation again this year, Penn St. @ $3500 to win the BCS has astronomical value!(That is if Tebow mysteriously catches a VD and UF misses the bus to the NC game). PSU's only issue right now appears to be 3 gaping holes in the offensive line, but word out of College Station is that the problem has been remedied. The defense should be solid with no known issues to discuss or be worried about right now.
Prediction: 12-0(They shouldn't lose, and I haven't found a lose on that schedule yet)

9. LSU

The Good: John Chavis(new coordinator), Charles Scott, Brandon Lafell

The Bad: Les Miles, Crappy Defense

LSU is working on the getting the ship turned around on the defense after giving up more scores then the local "DELTA HOUSE" sorority on free hand job night. There defense was crappy, I mean, 8:00 am just after coffee running to the shitter, crappy. The offense will be better if sophomore QB Jordan Jefferson can figure out how to throw it to only his players, and not be sloppy with the ball. Charles Scott will be leaned on this year until Jefferson gets his legs under him, and when he does WATCH OUT, they might just be good again. The defense should be pretty strong this year and will be leaned on to create good situations to help out an offense that might struggle at times. I can see 3-4 losses on the schedule though, with road trips to Tuscaloosa, Oxford and Athens. A home game with Florida will be a classic, and they could pull it off, if Tebow falls off the top and of stadium and breaks every bone in his body while he is sky diving in with Chuck Norris, and even then it may be a stretch. Better this year, certainly, Top 10 material....uh no.
Prediction: 9-3 (possibly 5 losses if they forget again to play defense this year)

10. Ole Miss

The Good: The Lawn, Jevon Snead, Cordera Eason, No UF on the schedule

The Bad: HYPE, HYPE, HYPE

The Ole Miss Rebels have EXTREMELY LARGE SHOES TO FILL this year with expectations in Oxford thru the roof. After they rolled off 5 wins and smacking around T-Tech(The same team that beat Texas mind you)in the Cotton Bowl, why shouldn't the expectations be high? Not to mention that Steve Spurrier poured gas on their fire by voting Jevon Snead 1st team All SEC over Teblow at the "SEC SUMMIT MEETINGS" this past June. Snead is still behind Eli Manning's shadow, but a big year this year could make some in Oxford forget about past glory and focus on the future. Snead has a great supporting cast around him, returning 4 deep receivers and 2 RB's that will share time in the back field and should be able to take some pressure off of the gun slinger. The defense is fast and stingy and should be solid, holding opposing offense's to lower numbers that will help as well. With Bama, UT and LSU all coming to Oxford this year, the door is open for the Rebels to make a run at the West title, and possibly a BCS birth. If not, then bring on the Big 12 and another Cotton Bowl birth. Houston NUTZ has great talent that again has fallen into his lap, we'll all be axious to see if he can find away to screw it up.
Prediction: 11-1 (They will stumble somewhere, but where is the questions)

That concludes the Top 10 as Da GOAT see's it. You can agree or disagree, but whatever you think, post a comment and we'll swap ignorance about it!

Enjoy,

The Nation's Top 5

As usual I am going to preview the Top 10 teams, begining tonight with the Top 5, GOAT style!

1. Florida

The Good: Tebow, Demps, The Entire Returning Defense

The Bad: Potential virginity loss at a sorority/frat mixer

There's not alot to talk about other then if they lose it will be because they beat themselves. Or the entire teams gets suspended and Tebow get's laid and goes crazy. Of course, JON BRANTLEY is probably the best back-up in the country, and I'm not being biased here, so they wouldn't fall off much. Steamroller coming thru....
Prediction is 11-0 (They shouldn't be favored by less then 17 in any ballgame they play until the post season maybe)

2. The BY GOD TEXAS Longhorns

The Good: McCoy (it's his year for the Heisman, regardless of his numbers )
Arguably the best line in the country outside of Tallahassee, FL

The Bad: A BIG 12 defense(not much here, and Big 12 homers need not argue)

The Longhorns look to repeat their success this year like last and this year maybe all about REVENGE. Texas last year got hosed (IMHO) out of a NC bid, but looked undeserving struggling to put away a terrible OSU team in their bowl appearance last year. McCoy has several weapons at his disposal and they will be needed. First big test comes in their 3rd game when Texas Tech comes calling(I will pound the Horns if this line is less then -7). They WILL show up to play in this one. Then in true Texas fashion they play 2 warm ups before there Oct. 17th meeting in the Red River Shootout with the SOONERS. The winner is probably headed to the NC game, but an Oct. 31st night trip to OKLAHOMA ST. is not a gimme by any stretch and the Horns better be careful. Like there chances this season to have alot of success.

Prediction 11-1 (Heavy favorites most of the way, but think they trip against Okie St.)

3. The Oklahoma Sooners

The Good: Heisman Winner Sam Bradford, strong Running Game

The Bad: A YOUNG offensive line, and a Big 12 defense(check NC game for confirmation)

The GOAT is still a little sour with the Sooners, as I thought they were the best team in the country last year, and should have beaten UF by 14 in the title game. (Go ahead SEC homers, look it up and REALLY watch the tape) But, they play ZERO defense in the Big 12, and stopping Tebow with no defense or a tire iron was not going to happen. However, Sam Bradford is back with weapons and looks to put up ridiculous numbers again this year, but that will be difficult with a young inexperienced line. You can have an all-world offense, but if you can't block for them, it doesn't really matter. I do like the way they step out of conference this year with BYU to open, and Miami at home, but of course the true test comes OCT. 17th in the "Shootout" with the "BY GOD TEXAS LONGHORNS". This may be the game of the year outside of the USC/OSU game. I look for the Sooners to preform at the top level again this year.
Prediction 11-1 (They may not screw it up, but I can't rule it out)

4. USC

The Good: 9 deep at RB, Taylor Mays, All world Talent everywhere

The Bad: Untested QB, Whispers of a crumbling program, a brutal road schedule

USC looks to dominate the the PAC-10 again this year, but I'm here to tell you they will be tested this year like we haven't seen in recent times. For 7 straight years they have been money in conference but this may be the year that "TROY FALLS". They have a stupid brutal schedule this year that consists of ROAD GAMES to Ohio St., ND(yep, I said it), CAL, Arizona St. and toughest maybe there Oct 31st trip to AUTZON to play the Ducks. An untested QB maybe there down fall, but if the QB does shape up, they could very well be in the BCS NC Game. Taylor Mays is a "Man among boys" anchoring the defense, and with 9 deep at RB, just let the QB had the ball off for 3 yards and a "cloud of dust". They may not win in true USC style, but a win is a win and they will have to fight for everyone this year.
Prediction 10-2 (untested QB + tough road games = 2 potential losses somewhere)

5. The ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE

The Good: #1 overall defense in the country, God as Coach, Rabid Fans, Hot Girls, Julio Jones, and Good supporting offensive playmakers

The Bad: Relatively untested QB, Getting blow out by a MWC team in a bowl game

I have to admit, the more I look at this team, I am more impressed everyday at the potential in Tuscaloosa this year. If Junior Greg McElroy can mature early for the Tide, watch out again this year, because this team could again be SCARY good. They have all the talent everywhere and a STINGY defense that should be as good as advertised. Saban has a knack for getting his team to play up every week, however if he goes to sleep at the wheel like he did in January while the wheels were coming off, then the Tide will surely not live up to there potential. They do have a grinder of a schedule, not to tough, but not easy by any stretch. Opening with VT in ATL is gonna be a classic, which the GOAT believes should be a great game and a BAMA cover (provided they show up) but still on the fence. After that, road games in Lexington, KY (tough place for the Tide), then the big one in Oxford, MS for a date with destiny and the Rebels of Ole' Miss. If Bama survives this one, they get 3 straight home games with USC, The Tennessee "ACCEPTING" Volunteers, and the "Bayou Bengals". Bama will have to bring it every week to keep their dreams alive this season. Like their chances, but have to be realistic with prediction. The GOAT will be riding the TIDE UNDER'S this year for sure!
Prediction 10-2 (Defense will keep them in all ball games, but offense may stumble)

This is the state of the Top 5 the way Da GOAT see's it, so take it for a grain of Salt, I mean, what do I know....I just work here!

6-10 coming soon!

Enjoy,
Da GOAT

College Football 2009-2010

Come one, Come all! Da GOAT is back for another year on the blog-o-sphere talking college football (and pro this year...a little). First off how about we catch up on what's been going on in the off season. Well, Lane Kiffon is a f*cking idioit, and Erin Andrews looks great thru a peep hole. Now that we have caught up on the off season news, let's get right to it. This year will be a little different then last year in with some minor changes (all for the good of course) taking place.

First, I will be having "Open Mic" on Thursday, taking the games that you want to be reviewed or that you want an opinion on for the spread total and breaking down that game with analysis and ATS/O/U.

I will also be hosting a "You pick" section on Friday's, allowing anyone to pick there favorite games and put them up against my picks on the page, winner gets an "ata-boy" and what ever YOU wagered on the outcome with your local/offshore.

I am looking forwarded to posting and talking about football this season, as it appears to be LOADED with great games every weekend, and looks to be SHARP on betting numbers right now. Da GOAT has a few games that are being looked at right now that I will be breaking down in the next couple of days so stay tuned...
